**~ CLOSED ~** Buy a Bear, Help a Starlight Child
Today is #GivingTuesday, the day that follows the Black Friday retail consumption frenzy and aims to focus on the importance of giving back to our communities and supporting charities. I am all for this campaign.
Today I’m featuring an organization that helps put smiles on the faces of sick children, and what can possibly be better than that? Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada is a truly special charity and I’m happy to be able to introduce you to their VIB — Very Important Bear — Hiya, on sale now to raise funds to help put even more smiles on kids’ faces.
Say “hi” to Hiya, the adorable, soft, cuddly bear who also happens to be the Sixth Limited Edition Collectible Starlight Bear. Hiya was designed by two brothers, Matteo and Nicco, who have had to deal with more in their short lives than anyone should have to in a lifetime. At just 16 months of age, Matteo was diagnosed with a rare bladder cancer, and although he is now five years old and off treatment, he now supports his little brother Nicco who diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia last year, at the young age of two.
From the Starlight Foundation website:
Inspired by a soft, cuddly blanket they call ‘Hiya’, the brothers wanted the bear to resemble the same strength, protection, and comfort they felt with their blankey by their side through many blood transfusions, surgeries, chemo, and radiation. They also chose to incorporate a gold and purple ribbon representing childhood cancer awareness, and the fight and survival of thousands of other children living with a life threatening childhood illness.
Your purchase of this collectible bear will help Starlight brighten the lives of seriously ill Canadian children through in- and out-of-hospital programs that provide entertainment and distraction to kids like Matteo and Nicco all across the country.
Hiya is available in stores and online now at http://bit.ly/hiyabear, but I was sent one of these beautiful, soft bears and instead of keeping it, my kids decided to give it away to one lucky reader, and to make the $15 contribution to Starlight Foundation.
Please consider buying one of these amazingly soft bears for people this holiday season, even if you’re the lucky one to give our little Hiya a home!
Disclosure: I was sent a Hiya Bear as compensation for writing this post, but it is the bear we are giving away here. I will also be covering the mailing cost to the lucky winner.
