Why I love BlissDom Canada
When I was really little, I wanted to be a diner waitress. I loved gingham, and aprons, and thought it would be really fun to take orders and serve people in a busy diner. (And maybe tell them to kiss my grits.) Then, and ever since, I wanted to be a writer. I wrote poems, cards, stories, and diaries. Later, I thought being an English professor would be a great career.
Now, I’m 40 and I’ve done a lot of things, but I’ve never been a waitress, and I’m definitely not a professor, but I do write. And I credit the confidence I have in my writing to attending BlissDom Canada every year, and connecting with people who support and nurture my goals.
I’ve been blogging since 2002, but it was BlissDom that gave me the guts to make my hobby a job. I learned there that my experiences and knowledge are valuable, and applied for (and got!) the job to write the Yummy Mummy Club allergy blog. It gave me the courage to put myself out there, and I write for other websites, I’ve had articles in print magazines, I ran a social media marketing company, and I write copy for clients. The knowledge I’ve gained from the speakers and attendees at different BlissDom events has been absolutely invaluable. From sponsor relationships to personal connections, it’s always the most informative, inspirational time of my year.
I go to BlissDom Canada every year to find direction, inspiration, support and information. I go to rejuvenate myself, and remind myself that reaching my goals is totally reasonable, with some focus and planning. I love the connections made there — both personal and business.
BlissDom reminds us that our voices are unique, and valuable, and that it takes each and every different kind of blogger to make the digital space the rich tapestry that it is. The event brings together the most incredibly diverse group of bloggers, writers, and brands, each willing and eager to share their knowledge. But more than that, it’s an event that makes us realize that it’s possible to make a living doing what we love most, while working towards making dreams come true.
What are your goals? Where do you want to be in five years? What are your dreams?
Whether you’re a writer, blogger, online business owner, or just looking for inspiration, BlissDom Canada will have something for you.
Come hang out with me at BlissDom this October. I promise it’ll be worth your time!
