I’m late, I’m late, for a very important date! No time to say hello, goodbye! I’m late, I’m late, I’m late! I’m like the Mad Hatter right now, scrambling to get everything done, when I thought I was totally on top of things before this week. My parents arrived last Friday, and I was really excited to have them here to help me finish off Christmas preparations but by Sunday it was clear that wasn’t going to happen. Friday night, I hosted my community bake exchange, and then spent Saturday preparing for our big family open house on Sunday.
My mom wasn’t feeling the greatest, and by Sunday, she was completely unable to get out of bed. She was incoherent, dizzy, in pain and we were all very worried. To make a long story short, my poor mom had an extremely bad UTI and pneumonia on top of that. Then my kids both came down with fevers and colds, and this entire week has basically been shot. Today I woke up feeling like I’m swallowing glass shards so… yeah. That’s how my week has been, how about yours?
If you’re anything like me, and life’s thrown you a curveball that’s made your holiday prep fall off the rails, you’re going to love this giveaway. I have another $50 gift card for Mastermind Toys to give away to one lucky reader and I’m even going to make your shopping decision easy for you.
Mastermind Toys sent Story and Mason this incredibly cool Snap Circuits set, and I can guarantee this isn’t your average gift. If you’re looking for something kids will enjoy for years, that’ll not only entertain, but also educate, pick up one of the many Snap Circuits sets.
Snap Circuits teach kids about electricity in the most fun (and yes, totally safe!) ways. They have easy-to-follow instructions, colour-coded pieces and fun projects. Kids can snap together anything from lights and fans to FM radios and doorbells! What’s better, they can do it on their own. That’s right, without you needing to help. (Psst, this means free, quiet time for you!)
The recommended age is 8+, and I’d stick with that (although Mason loves Snap Circuits, he’s only 5, so he’s perfect as a support player but can’t do the projects on his own). The box can be immediately played with, and no tools are needed, and it all fits nicely back in the box for storage.
The kit Story and Mason were sent has instructions for 350 different projects (with fun additions like the ability to connect to smartphones!), but at $149.99, I know it’s a steep price tag. The smaller kits are totally awesome, too, and well worth buying! They offer kids hours of educational play, something I find to be such a challenge with all the other toys on the market these days. They’re sturdy, and honestly, my kids have been enjoying the set they have for two years now.
Mason and Story’s first project this time around was one combining lights and a glow-in-the-dark fan that flies off (and hits the ceiling!) — and Mason was really excited to give me a demonstration:
As you can tell, I was pretty impressed, ha!
It’s a truly awesome kit, and I highly recommend snapping one up for a lucky kid this Christmas. (Sorry, how could I not include that pun, really?)
Now, enter to win that $50 Mastermind Toys gift certificate so you can finish your holiday shopping once and for all!
