My husband’s big secret

Remember when I vagueblogged about a really fun day I had that ended with the biggest surprise of my life? I can finally spill the beans! Of course, if you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, you’ve already seen the news, but I’m going to share it anyhow.

So sure, my entire day with Robin a set up, but it was one of the best days I’ve had in ages. And then I came home to a giant camera crew and my pal Leigh-Ann standing in my house presenting me with this absolutely gorgeous wall of art and photography. Can you imagine? Every time I walk into that room, I’m still amazed. It was such an overwhelmingly sweet thing for Ryan to arrange, and Leigh-Ann to arrange, and Robin to play along with. So touching. I’m a lucky girl, I know.

Here are some of my absolute favourite moments from the commercial:

It’s quite something to walk into your home blindfolded, to have a huge camera crew revealed, with a brand new project completed in your house. I had no idea how I had reacted until I saw the video.

At this moment, I had noticed the photo of my shadow with arms outstretched, “holding up” the word, “Marshmallow” written in small stones on a riverbed. A couple of years ago on a hike, my family and I did that, to remember the baby we lost, that my daughter named Marshmallow. Now, the only physical memory we have of Marshmallow is on my precious photo wall. That hit me right in my heart.

I’d been duped! I missed ALL the signs! Man. I need to work on my spidey senses.

I was so overwhelmed with thanks, I couldn’t stop thanking Ryan and Leigh-Ann, and the crew. I mean, come on! This is amazing.

I loved seeing what happened to make my wall so beautiful. I can’t wait to try it for myself on our new Canon Pixma Pro-100. Seriously, how insanely cool is it that I can print stuff that big at home? The kids are excited to have their choice of art in their rooms.

Leigh-Ann’s amazing, isn’t she?

Lucky me. <3

What a truly amazing experience.

EDIT [Oh! Oh! And here’s a link to where you can find more amazing tips for creating your own photo wall, too. Click over to the Canon site for more info.]

Disclosure: This is not a sponsored post, but obviously we were involved with Canon Canada, and compensated. I’m writing about it because I wanted to share it with you, I wasn’t asked to share it. I am, however, totally blown away by the Canon Pixma Pro-100’s capabilities. And also by my husband’s acting skills.

I’ve been procrastinating for YEARS in putting any of my photos on our walls. This is extremely embarassing as a photographer so I need to rectify it and this gave me lots of great hints on how to achieve it.

I am glad you mentioned the special photo that jumped out at you. I noticed it and I think that’s when the monumental effect of how important photography is in remembering (special times, places, people) and how valuable making the time to showcase them is hit me as well. It definitely started the water works 🙂

You of all people! Your photos are so incredible, I’d want them everywhere.

Having that photo of Marshmallow on the wall really hits me every time I walk by. It is just SO important to have photos on the walls. In fact, I have been wanting to write something about that very topic… hm…

As I said…absolutely ashamed. Not even one photo of my boys. 🙁 Winter project – for sure.

I look forward to the next blog post on the topic 🙂

Don’t work on your spidey senses too much – you wouldn’t want to mess up that kind of beautiful surprise!

Beautiful!! Did you pick out the frames? Wondering where you got them.

I had no say at all in anything, and my husband just had final approval. They came from a few places, though… IKEA and Chapters for sure.

I too have NEVER been able to figure out that gallery wall look.
