Girls Will Be Girls (A Boomco Review)

It’s a good thing I have great experience in eating my words, because I just swallowed a whoooooole pile more when a gigantic box of delight landed on my doorstep.

Folks, I’d like to introduce you to that which I swore I’d never allow into my home: glorious toy weapons. (I even wrote about my feelings regarding giving kids toy weapons for Today’s Parent not too many years ago.) I swore we wouldn’t let the kids have these things, I really did. I was sure that they could get through childhood just fine without shooting anything.

I may have been right about a couple of those points, but let me tell you about what happened when we opened the box.

BOOMCo Review

Much to my dismay, Story has never been one for dolls or princesses. She won’t let me do her hair, and she hasn’t let me choose her clothes since she was three years old. But you know what we share? A love of adrenaline rushes. She’s my rollercoaster-loving, thrill-seeking kid. So we were about to have a bunch of fun together!

Inside that box was a huge BOOMco Stealth Blaster™. Story’s face lit up with glee when she saw that thing, because she’s known for 8 solid years that there’s no way I was going to ever let her have one. But there we were. Mason was vibrating with excitement, trying to climb into the box to rip open the packages of Clipfires™, the smaller (more portable!) toys.

I was hesitant, yes, but once I saw these things work, I admit I was pretty excited to play with them, too! The darts they shoot have soft, gel-like tips, so they don’t hurt at all if you happen to get in the way of one, and they only stick to a special Smart Stick™ target stuck on the wall.

And MAN can these things shoot. The blaster does exactly that — blasts rapid-fire darts like mad-crazy. It was exhilarating, I’m not gonna lie. Pow-pow-pow-pow-pow! All air-blasted towards the wall so fast you can’t even see the darts fly. And that flurry is followed by the kids rushing to retrieve all the darts before our toy-chomping pup finds them!

Story absolutely adores the Stealth Blaster™, and loves trying to focus and aim at the target accurately. She can load up the darts and pump the blaster (it’s air pressure that pushes them out so fast) with ease, and just really loves that it’s not a “girlified” version like others on the market. It’s just one seriously cool toy.

The BOOMco line gets rave reviews from both my kids, and I have to admit I’m impressed with them, too. They’re sturdy, and they work amazingly well. I can’t wait for some nicer weather to take them out in the park behind our house to really see the kind of distance we can get!

Disclosure I was compensated for this post, but as always, the opinions are honest, and are my own.

    1. Bwahaha, I assume they’re Nerfesque, but having never had a Nerf one, I’m not sure! They shoot stuff, that’s all I can tell ya.

  1. Oh man, Q (and M and I) would LOVE those! I haven’t seen any around, but will be keeping my eyes out now. Looks like the kids are having a great time with them for sure!

  2. I was the same way with weapons/guns but they somehow make their way into your house no matter what your feelings (birthday gifts, Christmas gifts, etc.). These do look like a bunch of fun. My boys would love them.

    1. They do, don’t they? Sneaky things.

But these really are so, so, so fun. It’s pretty hilarious seeing Story shoot the darts. The blaster is almost as big as her!
