* 2015 Holiday Gift Guide *
I try very hard to give gifts that come with plenty of meaning and thought behind them. It’s a special thing to unwrap something with love and intention, isn’t it? I’ve curated what I think is a list of truly thoughtful gifts you may find helpful for this holiday gifting season. Enjoy my 2015 Holiday Gift Guide, everyone!
UNICEF
Starting at just $12
This holiday season, my heart longs for safety and peace for our world. It’s been a year of tragic, preventable events, and knowing that so many are suffering is heartbreaking. So many children, especially. What kind of world are we leaving to them? This year, I encourage everyone to give a gift that reaches beyond your own community. See what UNICEF does, and how you can make a real, tangible difference in the life of a child across the globe. Even just adding yourself to their mailing list makes an immediate impact – one email = one vaccine.
Me to We Rafiki bracelets
$10 at Mastermind Toys
The word “rafiki” means “friend” in Swahili. What better way to extend friendship around the world than to support a Kenyan mother working hard (for fair pay) to support her family? There are a number of these beautiful bracelets, each with a message and a specific fundraising effort.
Starlight Children’s Foundation
from $2
Starlight Children’s Foundation helps put smiles on the faces of sick children through their in-hospital programs, and also through outpatient “Wishes” and “Excursions” programs, and you can help them do this! For just $2, you can purchase a beautiful Oscar the Nutcracker from your local Bouclair store, and 100% of the proceeds will be given to Starlight Canada. In addition, if you snap a photo, tag @starlightcanada and @bouclair, and use the #OscarTheNutcracker hashtag, you’ll be entered to win $1000!
Every year, Starlight has a special patient-designed fundraising bear, too, and this year, #QuinnBear is just adorable. Complete with shining hero’s cape, Quinn will do double-duty by giving love to the recipient, and by raising needed funds for Starlight Canada.
Imagine all the smiles you can spread this holiday season!
Daneson toothpicks
from $19.99
I have a father with simple needs – he has never asked for much of anything, but he appreciates fine things, quietly. He’s a man of great character, and these premium small-batch toothpicks are the perfect stocking stuffer for someone like him. Made from A-grade northern white birch, Daneson toothpicks are like no others – they’re made with essential oils and single malt scotch. They’re perfect for the contemplative sophisticate.
Original Grain Watches
starting at $149
These stunning handcrafted watches are definitely a statement. Made with genuine wood and stainless steel, and featuring Japanese Miyota Citizen Quartz movements, they’re truly original gifts for anyone who loves the edge of natural elements and high-end style.
Polaroid Z2300 Digital Instant Print Camera
$219 at Amazon.ca
I mean, come on, how cool is this camera? My nine-year-old daughter is hoping Santa brings this to her this year. Print crisp 10 megapixel photos instantly – but only the ones you want! You can review photos on the LCD screen before printing to minimize wasting photos. So, so, so retro cool.
Tiny Devotions
gifts starting at $21
Life is hectic, but with gifts from Tiny Devotions, you can help your loved one slow down, set intentions, and go forward with meaning this coming year. This stunning white jade Highest Potential Mala ($154) balances emotions and helps the wearer reach their highest potential. Choose the perfect mala and give a gift with love.
Glama Gals gift card
any amount
Far more than just a tween spa, Glama Gals is a magical place where self-esteem blooms, and girls forge friendship bonds and embrace their uniqueness. Giving a Glama Gal gift this holiday season isn’t just about fancy nails and cucumber facials (but it’s totally that, too!), it’s about giving the young girl in your life the chance to immerse herself in pampering from the inside out.
What I really love is that their new line of all natural polishes give back, too. Each bottle sold sends $1 to Plan Canada’s Because I Am A Girl initiative. Isn’t this a great way to teach girls the importance of sharing?
Snap Circuits Arcade
$79.99 at Mastermind Toys
We’re really big fans of the Snap Circuits sets in our house. My kids have two of them, and were recently sent this Arcade set to try out. Stay tuned for a full review (and giveaway!), but rest assured that this is the perfect gift for curious kids. You may notice that STEM is a big thing around here – we think it’s so important for kids to never lose the interest in this stuff. Snap Circuits make creating electronic circuit boards easy, and the kids love seeing the end results. Finally a toy with lights and noises that won’t drive you bonkers.
Tinker Crate
starting at $24.95
I’ve heard amazing things about these crates, and I think my STEM-loving daughter would flip out for a subscription to Tinker Crates. (My son would love this, too, despite being younger than the recommended age.) Teaching kids that there’s great fun to be found in science, technology, science and math is crucial, and these crates make it so fun!
Whatever gifts you decide to give this holiday season, may they be filled with love. <3
