You probably think that we’re a bunch of Luddites around here. We no longer own a microwave, we canceled our traditional home phone, and we don’t have cable tv. But ha-HA, we are very much the opposite. Instead of traditional cable, we’re big fans of Netflix (not sponsored), Hulu Plus (not sponsored), iTunes (not sponsored) and technology in general. And what I really love most about this new way of watching movies and shows is that I get to watch exclusive stuff like Orange is the New Black (ok, sponsored plug) and House of Cards via Netflix and it’s all commercial-free. Using these kinds of services has cut down on the amount of time we all watch tv, because it’s never just mindlessly on in the background. It’s saving money AND saving my brain, that’s a win, right?
Ok, so to my actual point: Orange is the New Black is one of my favourite shows of, well, ever. The book, not so much. The main character, not so much. But the show itself? A thousand times yes. It’s well-written, and I love the support characters, and even though I know it’s based on a true story, I love pretending it’s not, so the story can unfold however it may. It’s crazy, sad, hilarious, edge-of-your-seat intense, it’s basically perfect.
And you know what? It’s been gonegonegone, it’s been gone so long, but soon? IT’LL BE BACK! Mark your calendars, because Friday, June 6, 2014 is when OITNB hits Netflix once again, and I’m super excited to watch. Here’s a (NSFW) teaser for ya:
I am so ready for the next level crazy, are you?
Disclosure: I will be compensated for sharing this trailer video with you. But I really, really, really love this show, and you should definitely watch it so we can talk about it together. 🙂
