Wahhhhhhh! How is it even possible that summer is almost over, and kids will soon be in the old back-to-school rhythm? I’m determined to squeeze every last second of fun outta this summer, though, so here are some tips on how to enjoy every last fleeting moment.

Set the Clocks!

Start getting kids used to their school routine by implementing familiar routines — better bedtimes, earlier wake times if they’ve been used to sleeping in… don’t wait until the weekend before school starts to make the changes. Make the changes fun! Getting up early means hitting the beach before the crowds settle in, or enjoying the fresh morning air before it’s too hot. Even visiting a theme park is the best in the early hours.

Plan Ahead for Allergy Season

Ragweed is coming. It’s true, now is the time to start prepping for the worst sneeze-on (#sorrynotsorry) for allergies. Fall is a tricky one, so we use  AERIUS Kids® or Claritin® Kids starting in August to ensure they’re ready to battle the pollen. Both offer 24-hour non-drowsy relief. Oh, and also, hydraSense® has a solution just for young children that can clear nasal passages without medications or chemical additives which is super for allergies and those pesky summer colds. And the million colds they’ll get come September.

Talk About the School Routines

This is especially important if you’ve got little ones heading to school for the first time. Talk about what they’ll do at school, and get them used to the idea of being there all day. For older kids, it’s still great to remind them of the school routines, and how awesome it is to be able to see their friends every day!

Save Some Special Time

It’s always crazy in the days leading up to school, so make sure you set aside some time to just relax and have fun with your family. Go somewhere you haven’t gone, or go to a fave place. Have an adventure! Or stay in your pyjamas all day and eat ice cream for dinner. Life’s too short not to have fun. 🙂

What are some of the fun ways you and your kids are getting ready to head back-to-school? Do you have any tips or tricks for making the transition easier?
